We will be on the road tomorrow (and have been for a few days, thus the dearth of posts) so I'll put up some pictures today instead, from the trip we've been on to find an apartment in Chicago!
First off, here is Lois, in case you've forgotten what she looks like in my absence. Just wanted to make sure to give you a reference photo.
The doofus in blue is me. We were going in to watch the 4-D experience "Sea Monsters." It was pretty intense but Lois seemed to really enjoy it! I think I jumped more than she did at the parts that are made to make you jump.
This is Lois standing in a penguin enclosure.
Okay. Go back and check the reference photo to find out if I'm just messing with you because I might be messing with you.
She did this to herself, I SWEAR!
Being a dad can mean being a sippy-cup rest. Knee, hand, face. You know, whatever. Even on vacation.
My new favorite picture of my daughter.
She liked playing with the trains, though she didn't quite understand what the track was for.
This is me very carefully not yelling at the other little girl for slamming my daughter into the ground several times. The other little girl didn't mean to do it, she just had no idea how to gauge how much/little strength it took to teeter-totter.
Lois enjoyed herself and that's what mattered.
In the light of the shark tank at the Shedd Aquarium, my little girl who should have been taking a nap was having too much fun to sleep.
Sometimes the best way to learn is trial-and-error. Other times you're a father and you need a little more help than that. Here are some suggestions and thoughts on what not to do as a new dad. Good luck. You'll need it. Updates when the baby allows me to update it.

Picture Post Tuesday!
Sorry for the lack of cuteness lately, folks. I had a minor surgery and the recovery knocked me for more of a loop than I expected. I haven't been following the adorable one around with a camera as much as normal but I did get a few shots I'd like to share with you now that I'm doing better!
For a day, she wouldn't take this box off her head. She ate with it on, ran around with it on, rode her Pewi YBike with it on, and as seen here, drank with it on.
She stomped and roared like a dino-monster.
I think she knows how cute we find this.
After laying like this for a while she'll struggle to get up and start saying "Stuck! Help. Stuck!"
I think she also knows how cute we find that, which is why she does it.
She used to be afraid of this barrel and now it's one of her favorite toys at the baby gym!
When I took this picture she was 20 feet in the air.
At least, that's how it felt to me. It might have been 2.
What daddy? Don't play with the springs? I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of me playing with the springs.
DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO NOT RUSH OVER AND PROTECT HER FROM HERSELF?
I deserve some kind of award.
No, seriously daddy, you're going to need to speak up. I'm a little deaf in my left ear. Now, I think you said "try to eat the sunscreen" and I can absolutely do that!
And nevermind how I got up here. I'll show you again later. And again. And again.

Mea Culpa
I apologize for the lack of updates this week. I had hernia surgery today and have not been great at keeping things running as they should be here. I will attempt a picture post on Monday for those craving their Lois fix.
The most difficult part about this recovery is going to be that for the next few days I am not supposed to lift ANYTHING, let alone a wiggling little 23 lbs toddler (she was weighed today).
I have already broken this rule several times when Lois wanted nothing more than daddy to hold her and read her a book.
What can I say? I'm a rebel.
A rebel with a big soft heart and an amazing daughter.

"Good" Morning!
9:45 PM.
That's when she woke up.
3:00 AM.
That's when she actually went to sleep.
Right up until 6:30 AM.
Note to self: Exhausted in the morning but need to smile?
Enjoy pictures of puppies/kitties and baby's reaction.

Friday Picture Post!
"'Play?' But I was contemplating existence, daddy!"
Those days are great for photo opportunities (since she's often sitting still, watching other children playing instead of playing herself) but not so great for tiring her out.
Perfect!
This gate had fallen on the floor. Lois has started helping put the gates back up when the cats knock them down.
This is how she fixed it, all on her own.
"Sure, it rocks, but what is its purpose, daddy?"
Her favorite spot to watch TV.

Haiku For My Little One
Dear daughter of mine,
Get your finger out of there.
Here is a Kleenex.
---
Go to sleep, my child.
I love you so very much,
When you are sleeping.
---
It's beautiful out!
Let's go to the park today!
When's my turn to swing?
---
I love when you sing.
Your voice a beautiful song.
But it's 3 AM.
---
Don't eat the Kleenex.
Get that out of your mouth, please.
Fine. Just swallow it.
